North of the Hawkesbury River Bridge within Gosford Shire
$750,000 has been allocated to make engineering upgrades to improve safety. 7 locations have been identified, the planning for 6 of these locations has been finalised and the details are attached. The improvements have been substantially completed at 3 of these sites.
The planning for the remaining location should be completed soon.
Please note that the Locations as described are not the same as the Council Work Zones and Work Sites numbers that appear on the drawings and plans. We have used the term "Location" for ease of numbering to describe a trip North along the Old Road from the Hawkesbury River

Heading north about 1 km past Mooney Mooney, just on the Northern side of the Hawesbury River, you pass Cheero Point Road on the right and start up the hill. Site 1 is the first 90 degree right hander you come to. (about 1.2 km after Cheero Point Road)
Improvements are:-
- Resealing the surface with asphalt
- Realigning the corner
- Additional directional signs
- Rub rail under W Beam guard rail
- Painted Transverse Bars
- A wider painted median

This is the second left hander after Site 1

This is the site of at least one `head on' between 2 bikes which resulted in the death of one of the riders.
Improvements are:-
- Resealing the surface with asphalt
- Realigning the corner so it has a constant radius
- Removing vegetation from the inside of the corner to improve visibility
- Installing additional directional signs
- A wider painted median

This is the corner at the turn off to the truck weigh station
Improvements are:-
- Additional painted median
- Additional directional signs
- Rub rail under the W beam guard rail
- Caution Driveway sign
- Removing vegetation from the inside of the corner to improve visibility

The first right hand corner out of Calga when heading towards Mt White
Improvements are:-
- Resealing the surface with asphalt
- Realigning the corner ( not to constant radius )
- Additional directional signs
- Rub rail under W beam guard rail
- Painted wide median
- Improved drainage to reduce the amount of leaf litter washed onto the road
