Motorised Toys

These small sized unregistrable items are a scourge

Primarily because they are purchased with no regard for safety

Compare the position of the regular motorycle manufacturers to that of the toy shops.

The regular manufacturers encourage the use of unregistrable mini-bikes in a respnsible manner and offer a lot of guidance on protective clothing, areas to ride them, clubs to join and a generally very responsible approach to them.

Toyshops have something to sell and drive sales in an irresponsible manner. with no information or education for the parents who buy these potentially dangerous toys for use by their children.

Pocketbikes and other Motorised toys in a motorcycle configuration have been involved in several serious crashes in the back streets of the suburbs. These are not "Motorcycle crashes" involving a road going motorcycle.

Motorised toys are incapable of being registered.

Under the Australian Road Rules, an unregistrable "Motorised Toy" can only be ridden on the footpath if it has a power output below 200Watts (less than 25cc) and travels at walking pace. Buggies or "mobility vehicles" for the infirm fit alternative definitions within the same classification.
